When a new build home in the rural village of Crowle came up for bidding, Ryan put his name forward without much expectation. Six to eight weeks later, the call came - he’d been offered the property. “It was a surprise and a huge relief,” he says. “I’ve never had social housing before, but I needed a bit of support, and I was given it here.”

His new home is part of a small development of just 12 houses and flats at the end of a quiet country lane. From his windows, he looks out over fields and horses grazing - a peaceful change from his previous, more urban life. “I’ve never lived somewhere rural before, but I’ve got no complaints at all,” Ryan says.

Settling in has been a gradual process as he adds furniture, carpets, and personal touches. But for Ryan, the difference is already clear. “From the moment Platform contacted me, everything just fell into place. It was smooth, well communicated, and the people I dealt with were so helpful — even pointing me towards support groups I didn’t know existed.”

His new home has brought comfort, stability, and a sense of peace at a time when he needed it most.

Before moving into his newly built home, Ryan’s life had been turned upside down. A serious car accident left him with 62 broken bones, four surgeries, and a long road to recovery. After months in hospital, including time in intensive care, he was discharged but needed temporary places to stay while receiving ongoing physiotherapy and support.
